Our story begins in 1956, when this location first opened its doors as a classic fast-food ice cream and hamburger shop founded by Harold L. and Dorothy Dunton. Operating as a Tastee-Freez, it was among the nation’s earliest soft-serve franchises—serving up sweet treats and simple comforts to the local community.
Over the years the space continued to evolve with the times- later becoming home to a variety of eateries, from a BBQ pit to a breakfast spot, each adding its own chapter to the story.
In late 2017, the property was purchased by James Pigneri, who reimagined the space and, in 2018, established The Copper Tap Grille—bringing new life, fresh flavors, and a continued commitment to serving the community.
